At Windowplus , sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Through strategic investments and innovative practices, we are making substantial strides toward reducing our carbon footprint and promoting a greener future. Below is an overview of the measures we’ve implemented to ensure a lasting positive impact on the environment.
One of our most significant moves toward sustainability has been the installation of a 73.95 kW solar system. By harnessing the power of renewable energy, we are projected to reduce our carbon emissions by 11,619 kg of CO2 annually—the equivalent of eliminating a 41,498-mile car journey every year.
Our commitment extends beyond solar power. We have transitioned to LED lighting throughout our factory, which has already reduced emissions by 0.51 tonnes of CO2 per year. Additionally, upgrading to new external fire doors and warm air units has cut emissions by a further 0.51 and 0.59 tonnes annually, respectively.
The implementation of destratification fans has also played an essential role, lowering emissions by 0.18 tonnes per year by optimizing airflow and reducing energy consumption.
Another significant step in our sustainability journey is the shift to electric vehicles. By replacing three traditional vans and a gas-powered forklift with electric counterparts, we’ve drastically reduced our reliance on fossil fuels. This move aligns with our broader goal of minimizing carbon emissions across all areas of our operations.
In the office, we’ve reduced printing to further cut down on unnecessary waste, complementing our ongoing environmental efforts. Small actions like these are just as crucial in our drive to create a greener future.
After a successful six-month trial, we have implemented a four-day work week for our Factory staff, allowing us to power down our factory every Friday. This change not only benefits the environment by reducing the Friday commute but has also boosted employee morale. Research shows that a 10% reduction in work hours can lead to an 8.6% reduction in carbon footprint (Schor, 2012).

Like any ambitious initiative, our sustainability journey has had its challenges—securing funding being one of the most significant. However, through meticulous planning and financial management, we were able to secure the necessary resources. We are proud to share that this project has been part-funded by East Renfrewshire Council and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
We are proud of the steps we’ve taken and excited about the journey ahead. Our commitment to sustainability is ongoing, and we will continue to explore innovative ways to reduce our environmental impact and contribute to a greener, more sustainable future for all.
Together, we are making a difference. Stay tuned for more updates on our sustainability journey!
